Bass Guitar Grade Exams
If you are a learner that is goal/target orientated, then you might prefer to learn the bass through a set curriculum. Grade exams will allow you to monitor your progress on a lesson-to-lesson basis by focussing on set exam material. Contemporary grade exams on the bass cover all aspects of musical education: technique, improvisation, stylistic awareness, music theory/sight-reading and song repertoire. It is important to note that if a student does go this route, they can still cover material from outside of the exam curriculum, perhaps a certain technique that they’ve been working on or perhaps a song that they’d like to learn. Grade exams can be covered in online bass lessons or in one-to-one bass lessons.
Rock School
For students that want to take on graded exams for bass guitar, Adam will take you through the Rock School bass syllabus. The Rock School organisation is recognised worldwide and offers an enjoyable approach to learning the bass. These exams are highly flexible, there are several exam periods per year. The entire bass syllabus can be downloaded from the Rock School website. Students can discuss with Adam where they should enter the syllabus, this will depend on how experienced the student is with the syllabus content. Grade exams can be covered in online bass lessons or in one-to-one bass lessons.
